Meera saw Krishna in Ganga

Meera saw Krishna in Ganga

Meera would sit for hours near the banks of river Ganga. She was a devotee of lord Krishna and would chant his name continuously with her eyes fixed on the moving water of river Ganga. Her life was so dedicated to lord Krishna that all she knew and practiced was worshipping him  for she had understood what the ultimate truth in her life was and she achieved an ecstatic state through her realisations.

One such day when she was lost in her trance she felt  someone's hand on her shoulder. She turned and looked back to find a small boy. The boy had a smile indescribable which had abilities to captivate all forces of nature through its simplicity. He said in his gentle tone
'pleaseee...take me for a boat ride..I want to ride on that boat'
'little boy what are you doing alone? Where are your parents? Why don't you ask them instead'
'My parents are too busy with their work on the other side of the river....pleaseeee take me for a boat ride..I have never seen the river while travelling in a boat'
Meera could not see the sad look on the child's face and she was already in love with his innocence.
'Ok little boy. Hold my hand! Let's go for your boat ride'

They entered a small boat and it set sail. As the breeze gently touched Meera's hair she felt as if a light which was cold like ice was entering her brain. Her focus was shifted on the child who in his playful mood was trying to put his fingers in the water..
'Don't do it child! You may lose balance and fall in the river'
'IF I FEAR OF MY FALL.. I'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO FEEL THE RIVER..'
'You do have a point child!'
Meera was fascinated by the child's charm. He was mischievous but he seemed to have some divine aura. He in his vibrance would run in the boat and would enjoy the beauty of the river from different views, and Meera enjoyed all what he did. All of a sudden he asked-
'Where does this river come from?'
'From the Gangotri glacier..'
'Wow!sounds amazing!! Where is it?'
'It is miles away in Uttarakhand'
'Oh yes! But where? I don't see it!'
'Hahaha! It's far away child..you won't be able to see it from here'
'WELL I DON'T SEE IT..BUT FOR SURE I CAN UNDERSTAND AND FEEL IT FROM THE RIVER...I THINK THE GLACIER MUST BE COLD AND CALM AND IT MUST BE REALLY BIG...MAYBE THE SIZE OF THIS UNIVERSE..FOR THAT IS HOW IT GAVE BIRTH TO SUCH AN AMAZING RIVER,WHICH QUENCHES THE THIRST OF MILLIONS'
'Hmmm..You are small but you talk like some great scholar of philosophy'

The small journey was about to end as the boat moved towards the river bank. Meera's thoughts had all of a sudden changed directions from her contemplative mood to that of all what the small boy said and did. It seemed that the small child had taught her things she never understood in the past years. She experienced what the child did- Innocence, simplicity, purity, fearless attitude,clarity...Aren't these the subtle core of 'devotion'. She didn't want to leave him..But the journey was over.
'I will meet you again someday.. whenever I get a chance to escape from my neighbour's vision and run from my house'
'What?Your guardians don't know you were here?'
'Yes....but...IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR ME..TO MEET THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE ME AND TELL THEM THAT I AM VERY CLOSE TO THEM BECAUSE THAT'S THE REASON I SPEND TIME WITH THEM'
The next moment the child started running towards the city. Meera's eyes were in tears..Her throat felt heavy..
She shouted 'what's your name'
The boy turned back while running in the crowd.. and said in his soft voice -
'KRISHNA'
